In 1979, Tim Malmquist and his father, the Honorable Robert W. Malmquist (Circuit Judge, deceased 2005) formed the law firm of Malmquist & Malmquist. The office was originally located at 203 West Washington St., in Morris. After 6 years of practicing together, in 1985, Judge Malmquist retired from the practice.
Bob Geiger joined the firm in 1986, which was renamed Malmquist & Geiger. The firm moved to its current location at 415 Liberty St. in 1991.
Continuing the legacy of a father/son practice, Brett Geiger joined the firm as an associate in 2009, and became a partner in 2010. In 2020, After 11 marvelous years of practice beside his father, Brett accepted an appointment as an Assistant United States Attorney with the Department of Justice.
Morris native James Durkee joined the firm as an associate in 2011, and became a partner in 2017, the firm then being renamed Malmquist, Geiger & Durkee LLC.
